The Love Won Out (LWO) conference at Metro Church of God in Birmingham had just under 600 attendees from 24 states including California, Colorado, New York, Pennsylvania and Washington. There were almost 60 kids in the youth/student track, which is our largest group ever. (That’s 10 percent of our audience!) Jeff Buchanan said the youth track went very well, and we had positive comments from the students about it. A good number of attendees (several dozen??) came forward for prayer at the end of the day. Terri Brown also coordinated the parent/family luncheon, and had a good turnout. We had attendees that came from 24 states, including California, Colorado, New York, Pennsylvania and Washington.
Below are some comments from the surveys:
“Thanks for the ministry of Focus on the Family and Exodus International in providing resources to the Church on how to lovingly respond in truth to the pain and suffering in this issue.”
“The first time we came to LWO our daughter would not attend. This time when we mentioned her coming she showed interest, however we did not know how we would be able to afford it. Through prayer we were given three free passes. God answers prayer. Thank you for all that you do.”
“It surprised me that the majority of speakers lived the homosexual lifestyle, grew up with Christian values and were brought home. What an encouragement for a hurting mom. God is so good.”
“I came to this conference not understanding that this was a conference for those who struggle with homosexuality and their loved ones. I leave here understanding the struggle better and with the commitment to put my knowledge to use. I can’t thank Love Won Out enough for the knowledge they have instilled in me.”
“Thank you for opening my eyes and heart to how we should respond to the homosexual community and especially for my son.”
“Beautiful mixture of grace and truth. You got it just right!”
“Excellent conference. You managed the limited time we had together, and the personal testimonies kept the goal of love in front of the goal of knowledge and understanding.”
“Because of this conference I can now explain to others why I can thank God for this circumstance in my life — my son being gay. I know God is using this circumstance to grow me spiritually and to impact His kingdom. “
“I loved the personal stories. The passion of the speakers and the truth shared was powerful, convicting, moving. Thank you for sharing the truth and equipping us.”
“What an excellent conference! So professional, personal, vulnerably compassionate, insightful, equipping and representative of the heart of God.”
The next Love Won out is scheduled for March 6, 2010 – San Diego, CA Skyline Church

Is Joseph Nicolosi still a main speaker? Our family attended LWO a few years ago, and we found him difficult to take.
I attended this conference (nice to see the back of my head looked awesome!) and it was just an encouragement to me. I hope the next time I attend to bring people with me because I sincerely felt that this was the best conference I have ever attended. I learned so much! Grace and Peace!
