Kevin Jennings is a militant gay activist who says that there is no more debate when it comes to the school system. You either accept liberal pro-gay ideology or shut up and move out of the way.
“Ex-gay messages have no place in our nation’s public schools. A line has been drawn. There is no ‘other side’ when you’re talking about lesbian, gay and bisexual students.”
Jennings is being raked over the coals for the second time this year as conservative bloggers are picking up his “reading list” suggestions for schools. Their posts are disturbing (seriously … you have been warned) but if you are interested, both Michelle Malkin and Big Government are covering the story (with very comprehensive list of research and links.) I am linking to them because, while they do have strong opinions, they try to do a very good job in compiling and documenting the fact that Kevin Jennings is a very dangerous man to be in charge of “safe schools.”
Recently, there has been the much deserved hullabaloo over Uganda’s horrible anti-homosexuality bill that would imprison and kill gay people as well as possibly fine and imprison those who know them unless they report their gay loved ones/friends to the government. This morning I posted a video of a terrible flogging of gay men in Pakistan.
But is the answer to that having a gay identified man promote literature that explains “fisting” to fourteen year olds?
The point of this post isn’t really about Kevin Jennings, its about self-determination being hijacked by political will. Uganda wants to force people into a nightmare, Kevin Jennings wants to force people into his version of a “safe school” with zero dissenting views allowed.
The two situations are completely different as far as penalty and malicious hatred. I don’t think Obama and Jennings are malicious. Jennings’ bigotry against “ex-gays” ( ex-gays is a misnomer I reject ) is obvious but he’s never called for us to be flogged in the streets or put to death.
The similarity I do see is that the government, at the highest level, is seeking to impose its dogmatic will on those who have same sex attractions. They want to make that imposition without any dissenting view or respect for free will concerning issues of morality and/or faith. It should be highly disturbing to know that gay Pakistan men are being beaten in the streets and just as highly disturbing to know that high school students minds are being de-sensitized concerning dangerous sexual practices.
Information on sexuality is abundant and everywhere. We don’t need the highest level of government telling us how we should determine the course of our lives concerning past or present homosexual proclivities. Sex education belongs in the home and as a person matures they can decide their own course in life and what their goals should be.
