Living Word Christian Center Issues Statement Concerning You Can Run But You Cannot Hide Ministries

We just received the following statement from Living Word Christian Center (An Exodus Church Association Member) clarifying how they had once worked with Bradlee Dean of You Can Run But You Cannot Hide Ministries:

Statement Regarding You Can Run But You Cannot Hide Ministries

Living Word Christian Center (LWCC) did host You Can Run But You Cannot Hide Ministries on March 25, 2009 in our Senior High School Youth department. The speaker was Jacob MacAulay the chief operations manager of their ministry, his topic was on the influences of pop culture in our society. LWCC does not support financially or in any other manner, nor is an affiliate ministry of You Can Run But You Cannot Hide Ministries. Our faith community at LWCC believes it is the love of God who draws all men (people) to Him, not condemnation or judgment.

I had an interesting conversation with Mr. Dean earlier today. There might be a follow up post (to our post from yesterday) depending on how that conversation continues to develop.

Stay tuned.

  1. Randy, can you explain in a nutshell what YCRBYCH ministries is? I looked on their page about us et.. and it just doesn’t really give a clear mission statement or reason for the name.

I took a peek at their facebook page and just wasn’t impressed.

Hi Jason, If I understand correctly, they are primarily a youth outreach through his music. But, he seems to be involved in a variety of different things.

Well, if we can agree that homosexuality is an abomination and that it’s a sin that sends people to hell, and that the love of God reaches to the depths of a person’s (any person’s) depravity, and delivers them, and transforms them, then I don’t understand the problem.

Whether in pretense or in truth, I don’t see where this fellow is preaching anything but Christ and Him crucified. If his theology or doctrine is incomplete, has there been anyone to help him complete it? Please, don’t have more mercy for Ted Haggard than you do for this guy. We’re not here to out-forgive Christ Himself. Forgive a fundamentalist Christian as quickly and as gracefully as you forgive an off the wagon homosexual.

I don’t think any of us lack mercy for Dean. The difference between him and Ted Haggard is that Haggard did eventually ask for forgiveness for his sins. I don’t know how Dean is going to respond to these current allegations, but if he maintains that what he said was good and that he doesn’t see a problem with countries who execute homosexuals, then Bible-believing Christians can forgive him, but forgiveness doesn’t mean they should continue giving him a platform. Those views are dangerous and harmful, and they are indeed a very incomplete doctrine.

This is precisely why we need to choose our words CAREFULLY. And its sad that any idiot can start a church or ministry. I spent many hours going over the interviews and the accusations and the rebuttals and I finally heard the broadcast for myself. This man is a judgmental and legalistic idiot. I grew up in the church, and have a LOT of fond memories of youth group, bible camp., I was a member of a Christian rock band back in the 80′s and was “on fire” for God.

People like this are the reason I left the church. If Jesus heard this rot, I believe he would weep. This is a man with some knowledge of scripture, but just enough to be dangerous to those who listen to him and ESPECIALLY to the naive younger people. I have been to your church 3 times, and i thought that there were some VERY good messages. I know that its hard to always know with whom you ally, but after hearing the bile spewed out by this judgmental and obviously hateful individual, I wouldn’t stand 10 feet near him.

His wholesale condemnation of Gays as “predators” and “molesters” lacks merit and resembles truth not at all. To quote from Abnormal Psychology: The distinction between a victim’s gender and a perpetrator’s sexual orientation is important because many child molesters don’t really have an adult sexual orientation. They have never developed the capacity for mature sexual relationships with other adults, either men or women. Instead, their sexual attractions focus on children – boys, girls, or children of both sexes.

When Arrogance and Ignorance have a child, it would talk very similarly to how Mr Dean speaks of subjects he has LITTLE or INCOMPLETE information on.

Check out the broadcasts for yourselves. Don’t take MY word for it. You have no clue who I am. I am no one. ALWAYS verify. ANYONE in positions of church leadership have a FRIGHTENING responsibility to know with whom they ally. I have made my own mistakes in my life, and i understand we are fallible human beings. This wasn’t a mistake. He thoroughly believes this tripe. This is worse than the gaff that Pat Robertson pulled about the Haitians deserving the recent hurricane damage due to their ancestors voodoo practices.

This isn’t my definition of “what Jesus would do”.

      God bless you!

      • Interesting…Bible believing is used in your post. Can you explain how Bradlee’s position(which didn’t directly call for the execution of homosexuals, but only brought to light the judgment to come on those that won’t self restrain, by the power of the Holy Spirit, in submission to God, and think a multicultural departure from the biblical standard of righteousness is to their fleshly benefit) differs from the apostle Paul in Romans 1:18-32, or that the calling out or correction of these isn’t the responsibility of the church as directed in 1Tim 1:7-10.

Lemme guess, Bradlee Dean told you something to the effect that ‘the liberals/gays are demonizing him and that he in fact ‘loves’ the gay community.’ That would be pretty much whaht he has said 3 years ago and yet he still makes rather calumnous statements against gay men (including lumping them in with pedophiles).

Just the ‘war’ terminology and the heavy cartoon guy with a sword is enough to make me go ‘wackooooooo!’ Without reading much more, I’m going to lump Bradlee Dean in with those other total wackos who set up the ‘God Channel’, Rory and Wendy Alec. Complete Nutters, and many Christians are following these self-professed ‘prophets’. Totally annoys me cos it’s the mentally ill and emotionally needy who tend to follow them because of the ‘spiritual’ ie. fantastical weighting to their ‘ministry’.
The Alecs talk a lot about God using them to ‘expose’ ‘dark’ things, as Bradders does. And they always have a book to sell – which Bradders has – which costs a lot. (Which are all self-published in Scotland – ie no publisher would touch their books with a barge pole, they had to pay someone to publish it, and Scotland is the UK’s equivalent to the Toilet in terms of publishing!) They claim they are speaking ‘truth’ as does Bradders.
Yeah, I’ll echo someone else who said Bradders and his guys don’t have a statement of belief etc. Bit weird, isn’t it in this day and age? Why isn’t he telling people what he believes? Been there before, cult-like church where the pastor refused point blank to tell me his beliefs. Dodgy as.
Ooooo, you know I’m on one at the mo about the Christian Celebrity culture, where the Christian faith has become more about personalities than about God and glorifying Him.
The Bible does say that in the end days, there’s going to be many false prophets etc? I don’t believe we’re in the last days, last days, but I reckon we are starting to get a taste of what is going to happen.
Randy, just stand, matey. Let people see you and Bradders for who you are, and let the people decide. And above all, let God see your light shining, matey. Let God deal with Bradders.
God bless you matey, C -x-

Perhaps if you did not know, but there was a second radio program considering homosexuality the next week; it was reported by MnIndy [http://minnesotaindependent.com/59568/hard-rock-ministry-says-jailing-gays-is-right-thing-to-do] and said:

On the group’s radio show, broadcast live from the Heritage Foundation on May 22, co-leader Jake McMillian praised the actions of the African nation of Malawi which has recently arrested a gay couple for getting engaged.

“They are very conservative,” he said. “They sentence people for crimes against nature.”

Frontman Bradlee Dean added, “They are very moral; they uphold the laws.”

McMillian continued, “We have got countries all over the world that are standing for what’s right and what’s wrong. In Rwanda, there’s legislation right now that repeat offenders of homosexuality will spend their life in prison.”

    “Yes!” interjected Dean.

“Because they love and value life and they love and value that which God gave,” said McMillian. “And so they enforce laws against that which destroys life which again is crimes against nature”

The group later brought in Bishop Harry Jackson, an anti-gay marriage activist in Washington, D.C., who praised the group’s work. “I believe a great awakening is about to come forth,” said Jackson. “I believe you are a part of it and those that hear the sound of your voice are revolutionaries.”
