A Fond Farewell, by Julie Neils

L-R: Alan Chambers, Joni Ereckson Tada, Julie Neils and Randy Thomas

Goodbyes are never easy. I've never been particularly good at them, though I'm sure most of us are not. Today I feel especially bad at it as this is my last day as Senior Director of Media Relations at Exodus International. Some may wonder what great drama precipitated my exit, but they'll be woefully disappointed.  There's no controversy. No hidden story. No grudges. No arguments. No drama. I am simply following God's gentle voice. Over the past the past few months the Lord has been tugging at my heart and asking me to open it to a new season in my life. As is often the case with God, He hasn't … [Read more...]

Protest

Charisma Magazine published an article I wrote called Of Picket Lines, Politics and People: An e-mail from an old college friend got me thinking. She had reconnected with a high school classmate on FaceBook and her friend, a passionate, self-proclaimed gay rights advocate, was constantly posting statements and articles on the subject for all to see. My friend, knowing that I work with a ministry that helps those dealing with unwanted same-sex attraction, asked, "How, in your opinion, do you even begin to talk to someone like this? Obviously she doesn't have the same worldview ... so what talking … [Read more...]

Big Foot, Nessie & Exodus International

Nessie

I'm always curious to see what people are saying about Exodus and as the PR person, I'm pretty sure there's something in my job description about that too. I've heard some winners in the years I've spent working on and around this subject. Hmm . let's see. According to some, Exodus believes in inhumane psychiatry that harkens back to the Dark Ages. Others say we peddle nonsensical, mind-altering remedies to unsuspecting prey that erases any and all attractions. Still others' seem to think we hold mysterious camps with all the security measures of the FBI training facility in Quantico - just in … [Read more...]
