What’s Good About Sex?

What's Good About Sex?

Excellent article over at the Focus website: ... Although there is plenty of bad in the contemporary sexual scene, it's clear that we're forgetting something. The only way to get something bad is to take something good and spoil it. Whenever you find a bad thing, look for a good thing somewhere in the ruins. The idea that sex is inherently bad doesn't come from the Bible. It comes from ancient gnosticism, which taught that the Creator wasn't God, but a lesser being who made a botch of things. Gnostics thought spirits good, bodies bad, and sex just a matter of bodies. But the Bible calls … [Read more...]

A Church Brings Hope by Patrick Payton of Stonegate Fellowship

PPayton

Sorry for the delay in today's posting ... busy busy :). *** A Church Brings Hope by Patrick Payton (Also posted on the Exodus Website.) I was fresh out of seminary, pastoring a church plant that had quickly outgrown our facility and was beginning to plan for two services. At Stonegate Fellowship we communicated a message of truth that Jesus Christ changes lives, and it seemed the message was getting across. We shared openly that Stonegate was a place where people could bring the baggage of their past; that we would love them and walk with them into the journey of new life offered … [Read more...]

Victory World Church – Ricky Chelette Speaks to Congregation (Video)

Ricky Chelette

Ricky Chelette of Exodus Member Ministry Living Hope, in Arlington Texas, was invited by Victory World Church to talk about homosexuality from a redemptive biblical perspective. This week our guest speaker, Ricky Chelette, delivers a powerful and life-changing message to help us not only learn how to have grace, mercy and love for those struggling with same sex attraction but to also understand its roots of … [Read more...]

ELCA: A Call For Clarity, Prayerfulness and Truth

The Lutherans voted late last Friday to allow the consecration of gay identified and sexually active clergy within the denomination.  I would imagine since the vote came late and right before the weekend, the reaction (online) will pick up today. There are two posts and a question I want to highlight and ask.  One by Mohler, tornado post follow up by Piper and a question from a reader of this blog (most of the content is after the jump.) First, Mohler: The inevitability of the votes to allow the affirmation of homosexual unions and the calling of homosexual ministers is rooted in … [Read more...]

Evangelical Lutherans Vote on Gay Clergy

Church Steeple Cross

From the Washington Post: The Evangelical Lutheran Church is the latest major denomination to wrestle with the question of gay clergy. The issue has divided the Episcopal Church, which last month voted to make gay people eligible for any ordained ministry, further threatening to split the worldwide Anglican Communion, of which it is a branch. And earlier this year, the Presbyterian Church (USA) voted against accepting openly gay pastors, although the margin narrowed compared with a 2001 vote. The issue has also roiled the United Methodists, which, after an emotional debate last year, voted … [Read more...]
