Some Thoughts On Church/Denominational Conflict

pastorhands

This post was inspired by Matt Kaufman over at the Boundless Line.  He wrote, in response to the ELCA decision, a good question (emphasis mine): ... When should you leave a church on principle -- not for personal reasons (which we've talked about elsewhere on this blog), but for reasons of its doctrines or practices? And a follow-up question: Have you ever had to wrestle with this decision? That is definitely a tough question with plenty of potential variables.  In the 18 years I have been a Christian I haven't ever left a church on "principle" (when I have it has been for personal … [Read more...]

Called Out – Janet Boynes Ministries

Janet Boynes

I enjoy Janet a lot. She is a lot of fun to be around and is thoroughly in love the with the Lord. Here is the conclusion of her testimony as posted on her website: For fourteen years I lived the lesbian lifestyle, moving from one relationship to the next. My old habits came back as well and I struggled in and out of treatment, even getting in to trouble with the law. Throughout all of those years, I always knew that I would one day return to God, that He was calling me, but I wasn’t ready to come back. Finally I met a woman at a grocery store who invited me to church. I went a few … [Read more...]

Thank you Karen! *** The Love Won Out (LWO) conference at Metro Church of God in Birmingham had just under 600 attendees from 24 states including California, Colorado, New York, Pennsylvania and Washington.  There were almost 60 kids in the youth/student track, which is our largest group ever.  (That’s 10 percent of our audience!)  Jeff Buchanan said the youth track went very well, and we had positive comments from the students about it.  A good number of attendees (several dozen??) came forward for prayer … [Read more...]

Why the Exodus Church Association?

Exodus Church Association

The topic of homosexuality is no longer a topic that exists on the fringe of our society, but rather it has become one of the most polarizing issues in our culture and churches today. The increased accessibility of information, in this technological era, presents us with many differing viewpoints ranging from unloving condemnation to blind acceptance intolerant of any opposition. With so many arguments and opinions, how are we to make sense of it all and how are we to respond in biblical grace and truth to the many that have been affected by homosexuality? For over 30 years, Exodus … [Read more...]

Dealing With Homosexuality – Jeff Buchanan in New Man Magazine

Jeff Interview with New Man Magazine

Sorry for the light posting lately ... I assure you ... that's about to change :). From the New Man Magazine website: Last month the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) voted to allow its congregations to hire clergy who currently are involved in homosexual relationships. The news came at the end of a summer that saw other mainline denominations dealing with the same issue. To get some perspective on these developments, we talked with Jeff Buchanan, senior director of church equipping for Exodus International. Exodus is the world's largest interdenominational Christian … [Read more...]
