Stunning Shut Down of Major Gay Print Media

washington blade

I saw this yesterday and have been watching it unfold but there has been little detail given.  Window Media closed all of its publications yesterday.  Most notably, the Washington Blade. I have been told that Washington Blade was the largest gay newspaper in the country and just recently celebrated its 40th anniversary. Here is a list of  the four largest of the seven gay print outlets closed down: Washington Blade Southern Voice (Atlanta) South Florida Blade Houston Voice Over the years I have interviewed with and read many articles by the Washington Blade and I think once or … [Read more...]

Orlando Shootings – Exodus Staff Safe But Urgent Prayer Requests

Exodus International

Dear Friends, Had a couple of people text, message and email me worried about the safety of the Exodus staff.  Rest assured, we are all personally safe.  Many of us are traveling to Birmingham today for the Love Won Out conference.  As you know we are headquartered here in Orlando but our office is actually several miles away. The gunman, as of this initial post is on the run so who knows where that will lead but thank you for your concern. We are ok. That said, we have several churches in that area and we have one friend who does actually work in the office building.  We also … [Read more...]

Sidenote On The Blog Commenting System

Please bear with me on the commenting system.  I have a long history of trying out various services and they work great until they don't. :-/ So, I have given up and am going back to the native commenting system here on Wordpress.  Please forgive having to create a login (takes two seconds) for this blog but it will help me in moderating and making sure this is a safe forum to to discuss these issues.  I think it will help foster a blog community as well.  I am always trying better ways to foster dialog here so your participation and feedback is always welcome. Thank you for your … [Read more...]

Religious Liberty and Artistic Integrity on One Life to Live is Punished Over Gay Storyline

Patricia Mauceri

This is kind of amazing.  From Fox News: Mauceri played the recurring role of Carlotta Vega on "OLTL" for the last 14 years. But when she objected to how the writers wanted her deeply religious character, a Latina mother, to handle a storyline involving homosexuality, she objected. And for that she claims she was fired. Mauceri, 59, a devout Christian, told FOX News that character Vega's gay-friendly dialogue was not in line with the character she helped create by drawing on her own faith. "I did not object to being in a gay storyline. I objected to speaking the truth of what that … [Read more...]

Of Superheroes Past and Present

The Hulk

I tell people all the time that when Mrs. Stone, my 3rd grade teacher asked me, "So, Randy what do you want to be when you grow up?" I looked at her and without hesitation directly stated, "The Hulk." My lunchbox even had the Hulk all over it with a big green The Hulk thermos. I did not say, "Someday I am going to be gay and then not gay and then talk to people about it all the time!" I promise ... that thought never (not once) crossed my third grade mind. Even so, life has its twists and turns. God knew exactly the path of my life and how he was going to bring me to the place and … [Read more...]
