Of Elton And Rush – We Don’t Have to Care But We Might Choose To Do So Anyway

EJRL Poll

I am not exaggerating, when I heard that some of the gay or pro-gay community are furious with Elton John for performing at Rush Limbaugh's wedding, I was shocked.  I thought they would be excited that the highest profile conservative in America would invite one of the world's highest profile gay men to sing at his wedding. The disparity of what I would expect between their reaction led me, on a whim, to conduct a poll on my personal blog.  I put it there and not here because I wasn't sure where and if I was even going to blog about this.  As I got public and private feedback, plus a … [Read more...]

Statement from Alan Chambers, President of Exodus International on the Criminalization of Homosexuality, 2009 Uganda Conference and Beyond

Uganda

Criticism is easy to come by at Exodus.  We are a large and diverse organization made up of many members.  Our growth over the years has caused us to not always know what the hand or foot are doing, which sometimes causes us to look like we are “all butt”.  That’s humanity for you, even Christian humanity. That said, and without a wordy explanation or excuse, this public post is way overdue and I sincerely hope it clears up any speculation about how I really feel about gay and lesbian people, Ugandan or otherwise, the criminalization of homosexuality, Exodus’s connection to the … [Read more...]

Follow Up Interview with Bradlee Dean

bradlee

Last week I posted about Bradlee Dean's controversial radio program where it seemed he was praising Muslim countries for how they handled the issue of homosexuality. He called me first thing the very next day. He shared his heart and agreed to do a follow up interview via email.  I promised him that I would publish his answers unedited. There were a total of five rounds of questions and an opportunity to share whatever else he wanted to share.  To date he has sent me responses to the first four rounds of questions and I will update this post with the final round of questions and his … [Read more...]

About John Paulk – A Brief Response To Rev. Cheng On The Huffington Post

light in darkness

I read a blog post the other day by a Rev. Patrick Cheng PhD, for The Huffington Post. He basically said that ex-gays were going to hell and really, really deserved it. I never tell anyone they are going to hell. It wasn't the fear of hell that saved me. It was the kindness, mercy and love of God that led me to repentance. In the years I spent as a gay-identified man I didn't appreciate Christians telling me to "flip or fry." Today as an ex-gay man I still don't appreciate being told I deserve hell especially by a theologian who is selective about his tolerance, not to mention his … [Read more...]

Is Religious Freedom and Self-Determination in Professional Counseling in Danger?

horizon

Of our two hundred and forty Member Agencies out there, around 40 of them are professional counselors.  Over the past year or so we have had a great increase in the number of reports coming in threatening counselors who are willing to help people with unwanted homosexuality.  Lately, Californian therapists are being threatened. SAN DIEGO, California, May 3, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) - California's pro-family therapists are striving to persuade the state's largest therapist association to stand firm against demands to suppress or kick out members who seek to help clients with unwanted … [Read more...]

Charges Against Street Preacher for “Hate Speech” Dropped

McAlpine

We previously blogged about the Preacher Arrested in England for Saying Homosexuality is a sin. After being being held in prison for seven hours and dealing with a 26 day needless battle the charges have been dropped. A Christian street preacher arrested and hauled before the courts for saying homosexuality was sinful has had the charge against him dropped. Dale Mcalpine, 42, was held in a cell for seven hours before being charged with a public order offence for telling a gay police community support officer that he believed homosexuals were going against the word of God. But yesterday … [Read more...]

Preacher Arrested in England for Saying Homosexuality is A Sin

nofreespeech

From AlbertMohler.com: We have seen this coming for some time now. The public space has been closing, especially when it comes to Christian speech — and especially when that speech is about homosexuality. Now, a Christian preacher has been arrested in Britain for the crime of saying in public that homosexuality is a sin. This arrest is more than a news event — it is a signal of things to come and an announcement of a new public reality. Even if all charges are dropped against this preacher, the signal is sent and the message is clear. The act of Christian preaching is now a potential … [Read more...]

Joyce Meyer Speaks Against Ugandan Anti-Homosexuality Bill – Christian Today

Uganda

From Christian Today: Charismatic preacher Joyce Meyer has spoken out against Uganda’s highly contentious Anti-Homosexuality Bill. In a statement released Monday, Meyer said it is “increasingly evident” that the Bill introduced in the Ugandan parliament is a “profoundly offensive, dangerous and disturbing attack on the very foundation of individual liberties and human rights afforded not only to the good citizens of Uganda, but on the at-large global community”. “If enacted, this hostile legislation will also further, and adversely, serve as a major setback in the … [Read more...]
