(emphasis Alan's.) --- Dear Friends, I am writing to you from Mage', Brazil - a very poor city about 40 miles from Rio de Janeiro. I was invited to be the keynote speaker at an annual institute held at Central Baptist Church. The pastor's wife originally learned about Exodus and me when she saw a pastor on television promoting God's Grace and the Homosexual Next Door, the … [Read more...]

Happy 1st Blog/Facebook Birthday Exodus!

firstbirthday

It's hard to believe we have had this blog, and complementary Facebook page, for a full year as of today! I am very glad to see this blog succeed. We had one serious attempt to have a ministry blog in the past that just didn't quite work.  So with lessons learned and the advent of social networking ... this blog took off right out of the gate! While I don't know that our blog will *ever* be a top dog blog like Instapundit (who knows really? :) ) we don't do this for "the numbers."  Regardless, I am a stats-a-holic so here are some statistical tidbits that those who do read this blog might find … [Read more...]

British Comedienne, and Former Lesbian, Becomes Happily Married Mother of Four

Jackie Clune

From How I Went from Committed Lesbian to a Happily Married Mother of Four: Looking at my four children racing around the garden with their father, it seems almost impossible to believe that only a few years ago I never imagined having a family. Or rather, when I did stop to think of myself as becoming a mother, I imagined the only way I'd do so would be through an anonymous sperm donor. Today, with five-year-old triplets, Thady, Frank and Orla, and a seven-year-old daughter, Saoirse, a husband and a home in a leafy London suburb, I could be viewed as the archehtypal wife and mother, even … [Read more...]

Medingerowie_320px

This morning many of the Exodus staff came home from the Freedom Conference to the difficult news that one of our beloved leaders and pioneers in the Exodus movement, Alan Medinger, has passed away.  From Josh Glaser, Executive Director of Regeneration: Alan Medinger, Founder - Home Rejoicing, June 28th, 2010 Dear Friends, It is with great sadness we share with you that Regeneration's founder, Alan Medinger, passed away this morning, Monday, June 28th. Alan started Regeneration over three decades ago, and in the years that followed, he and his dear wife, Willa, were like a father and mother … [Read more...]

Statement from Alan Chambers, President of Exodus International on the Criminalization of Homosexuality, 2009 Uganda Conference and Beyond

Uganda

Criticism is easy to come by at Exodus.  We are a large and diverse organization made up of many members.  Our growth over the years has caused us to not always know what the hand or foot are doing, which sometimes causes us to look like we are “all butt”.  That’s humanity for you, even Christian humanity. That said, and without a wordy explanation or excuse, this public post is way overdue and I sincerely hope it clears up any speculation about how I really feel about gay and lesbian people, Ugandan or otherwise, the criminalization of homosexuality, Exodus’s connection to the now … [Read more...]

Around The World: Puerto Rico, Malawi and Brazil

gloA

Here are three updates, from Puerto Rico, Malawi and Brazil, that landed in my inbox yesterday and today. Suspect in gay Puerto Rican teenager’s murder pleads guilty (link goes to gay media outlet): The man prosecutors contend brutally murdered a gay Puerto Rican teenager late last year has pleaded guilty. Juan José Martínez Matos, who had been scheduled to go on trial for Jorge Steven López Mercado’s death on Monday, May 17, confessed to the crime during a hearing in Caguas on Wednesday, May 12. Martínez told the court he understood the consequences of his actions, and Judge … [Read more...]

Charges Against Street Preacher for “Hate Speech” Dropped

McAlpine

We previously blogged about the Preacher Arrested in England for Saying Homosexuality is a sin. After being being held in prison for seven hours and dealing with a 26 day needless battle the charges have been dropped. A Christian street preacher arrested and hauled before the courts for saying homosexuality was sinful has had the charge against him dropped. Dale Mcalpine, 42, was held in a cell for seven hours before being charged with a public order offence for telling a gay police community support officer that he believed homosexuals were going against the word of God. But yesterday … [Read more...]

Preacher Arrested in England for Saying Homosexuality is A Sin

nofreespeech

From AlbertMohler.com: We have seen this coming for some time now. The public space has been closing, especially when it comes to Christian speech — and especially when that speech is about homosexuality. Now, a Christian preacher has been arrested in Britain for the crime of saying in public that homosexuality is a sin. This arrest is more than a news event — it is a signal of things to come and an announcement of a new public reality. Even if all charges are dropped against this preacher, the signal is sent and the message is clear. The act of Christian preaching is now a potential criminal … [Read more...]

Irish Times Quotes Alan Chambers

From the Irish Times article I Love Jesus (but not in a gay way): At the centre of this movement is an organisation called Core Issues, a Northern Ireland Christian initiative run by Mike Davidson, a married man who describes himself as having been “in conflict with unwanted homosexuality . . . before finally seeing the light”. Core Issues has brought a series of high-profile ex-gay speakers from the US to Ireland, and this week hopes to host a “Leaving Homosexuality Celebration” with Alan Chambers of Exodus International, a worldwide umbrella group for ex-gay organisations – … [Read more...]
