Dutch Gays Protest Church Communion Refusal

Catholic Church refuses communion to people who openly identify as gay: Pink wafers and wigs were the fashion Sunday as hundreds of Dutch activists in the city of 's-Hertogenbosch walked out of mass in protest of the Catholic Church policy of denying communion to gay people. According to the BBC, the dispute began last month when a priest in the nearby town of Reusel refused communion to an openly gay man who happened to be chosen prince for carnival celebrations. ... via Dutch Gays Protest Church Communion Refusal | News | Advocate.com. The Hungry Beast Video on Gay/Post-gay Reality

First, here is the video. It's long (for an online video) but well done and interesting: My overall impression is that this is a very well produced video. Great camera shots, flow, narration and humanizing to all involved. The camera/editing didn't try to hide reality or characterize negatively. That said, Hadyn's testimony (the man on the post-gay journey) was interspersed in between the two gay men's testimonies (both named Anthony) at strategic points. This created an overall narrative which could leave an impression that if you don't reject a Christian post-gay approach in the … [Read more...]
Soulforce Agrees With Exodus About Uganda
Soulforce, a gay activist group, describe themselves as: ... guided by the spirit of truth and empowered by the principles of relentless nonviolent resistance, works to end the religious and political oppression of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning people. They haven't been our biggest fans, by far, over the years. Yet, in an Open Letter to Jan and Paul Crouch (TBN) by Soulforce Founder Mel White, on February 5th, stated: It isn’t just the “liberal media” who are condemning the bill. In mid-November, Exodus International, the ministry that promises to … [Read more...]
President Obama & Secretary Clinton Speak Out Against “Odious” Ugandan Bill
Thank you Mr. President and Secretary of State Clinton. Calgary Church Loses Charity Status

From LifeSiteNews.com: CALGARY, Alberta, January 21, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) has revoked the charitable status of Kings Glory Fellowship (KGF), a Christian church in Calgary. CRA cites a number of issues with KGF's application, but the decision is based, in part, on the ground that certain KGF Board members have spoken out strongly against abortion, and other moral issues. "The members of the Board of Directors espouse strong negative views about sensitive and controversial issues, which may also be viewed as political, such as abortion, homosexuality, … [Read more...]
Of Gym Owners, Soy Milk and Causation

I am not a scientist, or the son of one, but I don't think it takes a scientist to know that making the assertion that soy milk causes kids to be gay is ... ridiculous not accurate. As the following gym owner finds out, it is something that definitely should not be quoted/promoted if you haven't "...put enough thought into it." There are plenty of other topics concerning the complex nature of sexuality and sexual identity to talk about but in reality, how important is it an issue to bring up in a gym newsletter? From Gym apologises over 'soy makes kids gay' article: An Auckland gym … [Read more...]

More Evidence of a Post-gay Reality from One Secular Perspective

Often, on this blog and elsewhere, you will hear me refer to my 17 year walk away from homosexuality, gay identity and gay culture as a Christian Post-gay Journey. I reject gay, straight and ex-gay as labels because they are too confining and not accurate. Unfortunately post-gay will inevitably be used as a personal label but I think the true definition is too large for that minimization. Post-gay describes a cultural journey beyond "gay or straight only" dichotomy. So, I talk about Post-gay quite a bit from a Christian perspective. Yesterday Peter Ould posted an article out of the … [Read more...]
Prayers For Haiti

UPDATES APPENDED TO THE END OF THE POST AFTER THE JUMP. UPDATE JANUARY 18TH, 2010 EST (at end of post has prayer requests for a first responder sent from one of our groups, a Living Waters Coordinator, and an orphanage supported by one of our group leaders.) I just read this very touching account from Jeff Antebi concerning his experience in Haiti (photo credit goes to Mr. Antebi.) I was talking with Scott and both of us remarked that a number of our friends know of other Christian friends/missionaries who are actually in Haiti right now. So I thought it would be a good idea to post … [Read more...]
