Rick Warren Graciously and Strongly Denounces Uganda Anti-Homosexuality Bill

Rick On Uganda

Warren Throckmorton passed on this information and I *love* Pastor Rick Warren's response. Throckmorton has a transcript of the video and responses by Pastor Rick to a list of direct questions. Again, I think this response is very loving, gracious, respectful and strong. Fantastic. Everyone, please keep praying and speaking up for Uganda! Rachel Maddow vs. Richard Cohen – Interview Review & Missing the Point About Uganda

rachel maddow

This post is a long one in that I am posting the video of Rachel Maddow's interview with Richard Cohen, of the International Healing Foundation, last night.  After the video I am going to share a review of the actual interview and then move into how I believe she, and some other militant gay activists, are missing the point with regard to Uganda's anti-homosexuality bill.  Here is the video: Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy The interview started off strong and polite. Richard did a pretty good job of being assertive and getting out there to … [Read more...]

The Other End of the Spectrum – From Uganda to Kevin Jennings

Kevin Jennings is a militant gay activist who says that there is no more debate when it comes to the school system.  You either accept liberal pro-gay ideology or shut up and move out of the way. “Ex-gay messages have no place in our nation’s public schools. A line has been drawn. There is no ‘other side’ when you’re talking about lesbian, gay and bisexual students.” Jennings is being raked over the coals for the second time this year as conservative bloggers are picking up his "reading list" suggestions for schools.  Their posts are disturbing (seriously ... you have been … [Read more...]

Rachel Maddow, Uganda & Me – Guest Post By Don Schmierer

Rachel Maddow, Uganda & Me - By: Don Schmierer Never in a million years did I expect to see my face on MSNBC. But there I was, plain as day - white hair, tanned wrinkles, looking every bit the grandfather I am- in a photo posted on Rachel Maddow's show last night. Unbeknownst to me, she had decided to discuss a conference I spoke at in Uganda several months ago. As Ms. Maddow accurately recounted, I did go to Uganda last spring to speak at a conference about my book, An Ounce of Prevention: Preventing the Homosexual Condition in Today's Youth. In fact, I've been to Uganda many times … [Read more...]

Don Schmierer Added to Letter Opposing Ugandan Anti-Homosexuality Bill

Don Schmierer has traveled all around the world and been to Uganda several times including this past spring. He just recently came back home after a few weeks of traveling and saw our email inviting him to sign the letter we sent asking Ugandan President to oppose the anti-homosexuality bill being presented there. Don's response was, "Yes, you can include my name in this very well written letter." We went ahead and sent the letter November 16th because we felt the timing was right to do so but are very happy to add Don's name to the document today. A little more about Don, Don is the … [Read more...]

Charisma News Online Picks Up Uganda Story

Charisma

and quotes yours truly ... A prominent ex-gay ministry is speaking out against a proposed law in Uganda that could criminalize anyone involved in same-sex sexual relationships and anyone knowledgeable of those affairs. Exodus International leaders said the Anti-Homosexuality Bill of 2009, introduced into the Ugandan Parliament on Oct. 14 to affirm traditional family values, discriminates against people with same-sex attraction. "Overall the bill's intent is to silence, intimidate and oppress people who have same sex attraction," said Randy Thomas, executive vice president of Exodus … [Read more...]

Martin Ssempa Should Renounce Support for Proposed Ugandan Criminalization of Homosexuality

From Dr. Throckmorton (posted with permission): STATEMENT FROM PASTOR RICK & KAY WARREN REGARDING ACTIVITIES OF MARTIN SSEMPA IN UGANDA Martin Ssempa does not represent me, my wife Kay, Saddleback Church, nor the Global PEACE Plan strategy. In 2007, we completely severed contact with Mr. Ssempa  when we learned that his views and actions were in serious conflict with our own. Our role, and the role of the PEACE Plan, whether in Uganda or any other country, is always pastoral and never political. We vigorously oppose anything that hinders the goals of the PEACE Plan: Promoting … [Read more...]

Ugandan Government Poised to Harshly Prosecute Homosexuals

Uganda

The Ugandan government is seeking to further stigmatize and criminalize (to death or extreme punishment) people who deal with homosexuality. It seems that the government has no respect for freedom.  Especially as it pertains to free will or self-determination on what a person does with their own same sex attractions. This sweeping, hateful, public policy being promoted threatens anyone struggling with same sex attractions, and their loved ones, with death or imprisonment. I left the following message on Throckmorton's blog five days ago: I am totally speaking on my own behalf … [Read more...]
