CNN Belief Blog Interviews Alan Chambers About Prop 8 and Gay Rights

From ‘Ex-gay’ ministry on gay marriage's chances after Prop 8 ruling ... “It’s disappointing that a judge would rule against the will of the people,” says Chambers, author of Leaving Homosexuality. “That’s the greatest tragedy.” For 34 years, Exodus has told gay and lesbians that they can be “delivered” from homosexuality through faith in Christ, professional counseling and support groups. But how will groups like Exodus fare if fewer Americans believe that homosexuality is a sin, and if gay marriage becomes an option? Chambers acknowledged that “our culture is changing” … [Read more...]

What Is The Gospel Response to Prop. 8? – Christianity Today Quotes Alan Chambers

prop-8

From What Is The Gospel Response to Prop. 8? : Alan Chambers, president of Exodus International: I believe that God is calling his church to a place far above the arguments surrounding what is sin and what isn't. We cannot avoid the glaring scriptural truth that there is, and will always be, a right way and a wrong way concerning just about everything we can imagine. And, yet, I believe that our attitudes towards people (internal and external) are just as important as our positions on the issues at hand. So, when I first saw the news that Prop. 8 had been overturned, my very first thought was, … [Read more...]

Reflections On The Exodus Freedom Conference

Joe Dallas - Freedom Conference 2010/LWO "Moving Forward"

Thom Hunter has a very inspiring post concerning his experience at the Exodus Freedom Conference a couple of weeks ago.  Here is an excerpt from his blog post (linkage mine.): I wish every pastor in the country -- make that the world -- could hear Joe Dallas explain the differences between homosexual orientation . . . identity . . . and behavior.  Orientation being involuntary, discovered.  Behavior being what we do with that discovery via our free will.  Identity sometimes foisted on us, sometimes embraced, but not who we really are.  Not in God's created intent, but only in our fallen nature. Say … [Read more...]

Charisma, California Catholic Daily and CitizenLink Cover Exodus Freedom Conference

Pastor Clark Whitten Talks With Exodus Leaders about Grace

Today we are featured in Charisma Magazine, California Catholic Daily and CitizenLink.  Also, I haven't found the link of a television interview Jeff Buchanan did with CBN (Christian Broadcasting Network.) We also have some other major media in the works and if that all works out I will post those links when they come up. Here is the first round-up of media mentions: First from Charisma Exodus International Marks 35th Year of Freedom Conferences Around 1,000 people are expected to participate in the International Freedom Conference, which begins Wednesday and includes workshops and testimonies … [Read more...]

About John Paulk – A Brief Response To Rev. Cheng On The Huffington Post

light in darkness

I read a blog post the other day by a Rev. Patrick Cheng PhD, for The Huffington Post. He basically said that ex-gays were going to hell and really, really deserved it. I never tell anyone they are going to hell. It wasn't the fear of hell that saved me. It was the kindness, mercy and love of God that led me to repentance. In the years I spent as a gay-identified man I didn't appreciate Christians telling me to "flip or fry." Today as an ex-gay man I still don't appreciate being told I deserve hell especially by a theologian who is selective about his tolerance, not to mention his interpretation … [Read more...]

Gay Rights and Religious Liberties

kaminer

I just got this article via email and I appreciated the unique perspective offered within. The author, Wendy Kaminer, definitely has a bias against the idea that professional counseling is very helpful for those who seek it in overcoming unwanted homosexuality.  That said, I appreciate that her bias is clearly stated and yet she is professional and objective to a large extent.  Here is the first paragraph from Gay Rights and Anti-Gay Liberties: An openly gay student seeking a graduate degree in counseling at a state university is expelled for refusing to agree that homosexuality is immoral … [Read more...]

Advocate Interview Models Day of Truth Vision

Yesterday I had the opportunity to speak with Andrew Harmon, Sr. Editor of The Advocate about the upcoming Day of Truth scheduled for April 15. I have to say that Mr. Harmon was the most respectful and pleasant interview I have had with a pro-gay journalist and I truly enjoyed my conversation with him. While we definitely disagree on many levels, it was a great example of two people having an honest conversation, while showing mutual respect and tolerance. There is one point that I feel needs to be clarified. I’m sure this is not due to any intentional misleading on behalf of Mr. Harmon’s … [Read more...]

My True Identity – Testimony of Richard Holloman

My true identity-2

The The Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission (Southern Baptist) has highlighted the testimony of Richard Holloman. Richard is the Director of The Sight Ministry in Nashville Tennessee and is also the Exodus Regional Coordinator for the Southern Gulf region.  He's a good man, and friend, who loves the Lord. Richard has a powerful testimony. Here's an excerpt: The most important thing the Lord continues to teach me through my recovery process is that authentic Christian faith is not about law, works, flesh or self-effort but about having a personal love relationship with God. In Matthew … [Read more...]

Dispelling the myths about OneByOne and Exodus International

Churchandworld.com

Originally posted on Presbyweb's (also ChurchandWorld.com) Viewpoint on February 17, 2010: Dispelling the myths about OneByOne and Exodus International By Kristin J. Tremba In January of this year, Presbyterian USA pastor, Rev. Ray Bagnuolo, wrote an article called "Ex-Gay. Ex-Loving". In his article, he made some inaccurate statements about the ministry of OneByOne and other "ex-gay" misnitries, which stand to be corrected. First, OneByOne has merged with Exodus International, the nation's largest Christian referral ministry for those who struggle with unwanted same-sex attraction. … [Read more...]

Gay Activist “Good As You: G-A-Y” Blog Asserts A Measure of Civility

G-A-Y Shadow

It's very interesting that G-A-Y blog extended a brief measure of commendation a couple of months ago about a post I did concerning Matt Barber's crass quote, SoulForce (another gay activist group) agreed with us about Uganda last week and today G-A-Y has a few benevolent things to say about Alan.  They state: Alan Chambers is clearly a smart and passionate man. He also comes across like a decent person who sees many flaws within the frequently overheated "pro-family" movement, and, to his credit (one that's reserved for few in the professional anti-LGBT world), Alan is somewhat willing … [Read more...]
