ADF

From the Alliance Defense Fund (ADF): FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ADF to appeal decision against wrongly fired Ga. counselor Christian counselor acted in best interests of client but loses job for honoring professional, ethical obligations Friday, March 26, 2010 ATLANTA — Alliance Defense Fund attorneys will appeal a judge’s ruling against a licensed counselor fired after she referred a person seeking same-sex relationship counseling to a colleague. Rather than attempt to provide a service that would conflict with her sincerely-held religious beliefs on homosexual behavior, … [Read more...]

PBS Interview on Churches and Gay Youth

Perdue

In a recent PBS Religion & Ethics segment on "Churches & Gay Youth," Pastor Bob Perdue of Old Dominion Baptist Church, an Exodus Church Association church in Bristow, VA, was interviewed by PBS correspondent Lucky Severson.  While the segment is generally unbalanced and one-sided in its perspective, Bob responds with a gracious and truthful point of view.  In preparing to post this article, I asked Bob to share a little of his personal story: I grew up in church and I grew up struggling with same sex attraction.  While the problem was not spoken about specifically, the concept of … [Read more...]

Gay Rights and Religious Liberties

kaminer

I just got this article via email and I appreciated the unique perspective offered within. The author, Wendy Kaminer, definitely has a bias against the idea that professional counseling is very helpful for those who seek it in overcoming unwanted homosexuality.  That said, I appreciate that her bias is clearly stated and yet she is professional and objective to a large extent.  Here is the first paragraph from Gay Rights and Anti-Gay Liberties: An openly gay student seeking a graduate degree in counseling at a state university is expelled for refusing to agree that homosexuality is … [Read more...]

Media Round-Up from Love Won Out San Diego

Terri Brown and Volunteer Staff the Information Booth

Love Won Out, San Diego, California- Exodus International hosted its first Love Won Out conference since assuming leadership of the event from Focus on the Family. Several media outlets covered the conference and while we were protested at this event, consider this story from a young man who protested a Love Won Out conference in San Diego a few years ago: "At a conference in Pasadena, a volunteer approached one of our staff and shared how Love Won Out changed his life. Several years prior, at a LWO conference in San Diego, this young man was participating in the protest outside the … [Read more...]

Advocate Interview Models Day of Truth Vision

Yesterday I had the opportunity to speak with Andrew Harmon, Sr. Editor of The Advocate about the upcoming Day of Truth scheduled for April 15. I have to say that Mr. Harmon was the most respectful and pleasant interview I have had with a pro-gay journalist and I truly enjoyed my conversation with him. While we definitely disagree on many levels, it was a great example of two people having an honest conversation, while showing mutual respect and tolerance. There is one point that I feel needs to be clarified. I’m sure this is not due to any intentional misleading on behalf of Mr. … [Read more...]

My True Identity – Testimony of Richard Holloman

My true identity-2

The The Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission (Southern Baptist) has highlighted the testimony of Richard Holloman. Richard is the Director of The Sight Ministry in Nashville Tennessee and is also the Exodus Regional Coordinator for the Southern Gulf region.  He's a good man, and friend, who loves the Lord. Richard has a powerful testimony. Here's an excerpt: The most important thing the Lord continues to teach me through my recovery process is that authentic Christian faith is not about law, works, flesh or self-effort but about having a personal love relationship with God. In … [Read more...]

Dispelling the myths about OneByOne and Exodus International

Churchandworld.com

Originally posted on Presbyweb's (also ChurchandWorld.com) Viewpoint on February 17, 2010: Dispelling the myths about OneByOne and Exodus International By Kristin J. Tremba In January of this year, Presbyterian USA pastor, Rev. Ray Bagnuolo, wrote an article called "Ex-Gay. Ex-Loving". In his article, he made some inaccurate statements about the ministry of OneByOne and other "ex-gay" misnitries, which stand to be corrected. First, OneByOne has merged with Exodus International, the nation's largest Christian referral ministry for those who struggle with unwanted same-sex … [Read more...]

Gay Activist “Good As You: G-A-Y” Blog Asserts A Measure of Civility

G-A-Y Shadow

It's very interesting that G-A-Y blog extended a brief measure of commendation a couple of months ago about a post I did concerning Matt Barber's crass quote, SoulForce (another gay activist group) agreed with us about Uganda last week and today G-A-Y has a few benevolent things to say about Alan.  They state: Alan Chambers is clearly a smart and passionate man. He also comes across like a decent person who sees many flaws within the frequently overheated "pro-family" movement, and, to his credit (one that's reserved for few in the professional anti-LGBT world), Alan is somewhat willing … [Read more...]

Prodigal Ministries – A Skeptic Discovers Quite a Different Perspective

Excellent blog post by Steve Fuller. I say it is excellent because Mr. Fuller is honest and humble enough to challenge his own preconceived notions to press toward the truth of a heartfelt and difficult situation. Plus, I think it is excellent because Jerry Armelli, featured in the post, is awesome.  From Social Experiment #5: Prodigal Ministries: In 2009, I visited 52 churches in 52 weeks in order to reconnect with God and redefine my faith. In 2010, I am stepping outside of the church to connect with people. During the Social Experiment, I will experience 52 random encounters in 52 … [Read more...]
