Brief Media Round-Up Concerning Day Of Truth Announcement

Day-of-Truth

I knew when Alan made the announcement that Exodus was giving up participation in the Day of Truth campaign that it would cause a bit of a stir.  I didn't expect it to cause such an enormous amount of feedback! The blogosphere lit up and emails, Facebook private messages, phone calls started coming in.  There were quite a number of media outlets that picked up the story as well. A vast majority of the feedback was exuberant agreement with the decision. However, there were a few who didn't like the decision.  Some of those who disagreed were very thoughtful about their disagreement and … [Read more...]

Statement from Alan Chambers Regarding Exodus and Dawson McAllister Recent events involving youth leader Dawson McAllister, Clear Channel Communications and Exodus International have been spotlighted in numerous blogs and publications over the past few days. While Exodus is no stranger to controversy, we are usually reluctant to make public statements critical of other organizations or leaders, particularly those for whom we have high personal regard. But the very public nature of this situation leaves us no choice but to clarify our feelings and position on the matter. On Sunday April … [Read more...]

Respected radio broadcaster, author and speaker Dawson McAllister, whose youth-oriented call-in show is on over 140 radio stations nationwide, is the latest target of several gay websites after his ministry directed a gay blogger posing as a teenager struggling with his sexuality, to Exodus International. Several years prior, at a LWO conference in San Diego, this young man was participating in the protest outside the … [Read more...]

Q & A – Where Is That Elusive Ex-gay Community? Solipsism In The Media

Over the years, Exodus spokespeople have done many interviews.  We appreciate media attention from both the Christian and secular outlets and will do interviews with gratitude that the message of sexual redemption is getting out there. However, there are rare times when we simply have to say no.  For example, a shock jock's producer once invited me on his show. This particular show made fun of the handicapped, objectified women degraded men and exploited and celebrated seriously debased humor for hours a day every day.  While I appreciate the producer's integrity of not trying to … [Read more...]
