I Love You, Man

i love you man

Previously I asked for feedback from you all about "bromances" but didn't offer any of my own opinions on the matter. I want this post to be the follow up after some prayer and thought. So here we go. I never saw the movie, "I Love You, Man" but here is the description from IMDB: Friendless Peter Klaven goes on a series of man-dates to find a Best Man for his wedding. But when his insta-bond with his new B.F.F. puts a strain on his relationship with his fiancée, can the trio learn to live happily ever after? I am not sure if the movie pre-dates the creation of the slang word … [Read more...]

Why Easter Matters

sun

Why Easter Matters - Mike Goeke “If Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is vain, and your faith is also vain. If Christ has not been raised, your faith is worthless; you are still in your sins.” Paul’s words in I Cor. 15 are powerful. Sometimes we look at Easter and the resurrection as just a part of Christianity – but the reality is it is the most important part of Christianity. Jesus died carrying the weight of our sin – and it is His resurrection that relieves us of the penalty of our sin. We have nothing without the resurrection. In fact, Paul says that if we … [Read more...]

Transforming a Worldview – Testimony of Karen Booth

Karen Booth

Testimony originally posted on the Exodus website: ***Begin*** Transforming A Worldview By Rev. Karen Booth, Executive Director of Transforming Congregations* Since many folk involved in Exodus-related ministries have struggled with same-sex attraction, I have been asked many times if that is true of me. It isn’t. My desires and behaviors since my adolescent years have been consistently heterosexual. In the past, however, those desires and behaviors haven’t been pure; I’ve hurt myself and I’ve wounded others through sexual sin, and I praise God that He has forgiven and … [Read more...]

A Fond Farewell, by Julie Neils

L-R: Alan Chambers, Joni Ereckson Tada, Julie Neils and Randy Thomas

Goodbyes are never easy. I've never been particularly good at them, though I'm sure most of us are not. Today I feel especially bad at it as this is my last day as Senior Director of Media Relations at Exodus International. Some may wonder what great drama precipitated my exit, but they'll be woefully disappointed.  There's no controversy. No hidden story. No grudges. No arguments. No drama. I am simply following God's gentle voice. Over the past the past few months the Lord has been tugging at my heart and asking me to open it to a new season in my life. As is often the case with God, He … [Read more...]

Prayer Request for Love Won Out San Diego

Conference organizers amaze me.  All the details, logistics, care, hard work, preparation, crunch time, running the event itself... astounding.  How blessed are we that God has created wonderful souls who can do this type of ministry?  My respect for David Fountain, Leslie Chambers and Karen Eaglin is already deep but to watch them in action is a beautiful thing. This Saturday is our Love Won Out (LWO) event in San Diego so it is crunch time in "pulling it all together."  During our daily morning prayer time we spent extra time lifting up every aspect of Love Won Out to the Lord.  We … [Read more...]

My True Identity – Testimony of Richard Holloman

My true identity-2

The The Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission (Southern Baptist) has highlighted the testimony of Richard Holloman. Richard is the Director of The Sight Ministry in Nashville Tennessee and is also the Exodus Regional Coordinator for the Southern Gulf region.  He's a good man, and friend, who loves the Lord. Richard has a powerful testimony. Here's an excerpt: The most important thing the Lord continues to teach me through my recovery process is that authentic Christian faith is not about law, works, flesh or self-effort but about having a personal love relationship with God. In … [Read more...]

The Hungry Beast Video on Gay/Post-gay Reality

Sennitt Family

First, here is the video. It's long (for an online video) but well done and interesting: My overall impression is that this is a very well produced video. Great camera shots, flow, narration and humanizing to all involved. The camera/editing didn't try to hide reality or characterize negatively. That said, Hadyn's testimony (the man on the post-gay journey) was interspersed in between the two gay men's testimonies (both named Anthony) at strategic points. This created an overall narrative which could leave an impression that if you don't reject a Christian post-gay approach in the … [Read more...]

The Gospel And Elton John

elton john

I've seen many gay protesters over the years hold up signs that say, "What Jesus said about homosexuality is _______." Thus inferring that He never said anything about being gay.  Not all, but a few of those same folks who seem to want to make facts out of thin air (arguing from silence in a negative sense) would probably believe, like Elton John, that Jesus was gay Himself.  From Parade.com: "I think Jesus was a compassionate, super-intelligent gay man who understood human problems. On the cross, he forgave the people who crucified him. Jesus wanted us to be loving and forgiving. I don't … [Read more...]
