New Book “Naked Surrender” by Andy Comiskey

naked surrender

Today I want to post an interview I did via email with Andy Comiskey about his new book titled "Naked Surrender."  I have posted the interview exactly as it happened.  There has been very little editing (spelling, formatting.)  Also, all emphasis (bold and italics are mine.  Without further ado :) ... First of all, congratulations on your new book.  The provocative title is "Naked Surrender: coming home to our true sexuality." When you say "Naked Surrender" is that both literal and figurative?  What does it mean to "come home" to our true sexuality? Andy: 'Naked surrender' refers … [Read more...]

Ignore Homosexuality For “God’s Sake” … Really?

Albert Mohler lends his great intellect to making complex issues approachable. He has done so again regarding the recent ordination of Mary Glasspool as a Bishop in the Episcopal church.  Ms. Glasspool has openly embraced lesbianism and makes the second gay Bishop in the denomination and first lesbian identified Bishop.  Here is the introduction and conclusion of Mr. Mohler's very interesting blog post (of which you should read the whole thing): The ordination of Mary Glasspool as a bishop of the Episcopal Church on Sunday drives yet another wedge into the already fracturing Anglican … [Read more...]

Jesus Embodies 100% Grace and 100% Truth

Redcross

I read this comment by Alan, which he says all the time, and then went to my rss reader and found this post titled LOST, God, and the Justice/Grace Problem: We love a god of mercy, but fear a god of justice. Therefore, deny His justice and suddenly God loves us no matter what, and it doesn’t matter what we do. There is no justice to face. But is this a good god? Is a god who doesn’t right wrongs, who ignores evil and sweeps it under the rug, who tells you, “Hey, just learn to make your own kind of music–it’s all good,” is that a god worthy of our respect? Justice is real and … [Read more...]

LaBarbera v. Throckmorton: Is Affirming “Gay” People Biblical?

Warren-1

I have been watching Peter Labarbera declare a blog battle with Warren Throckmorton. He calls on his readers to complain about Warren to his employer Grove City College for not practicing what Peter considers a biblical view of how to counsel people who have same sex attractions. It's gotten really heated on Peter's side of the issue (calling in reinforcements and everything) but I am sure both bloggers don't mind the web traffic. What blogger would mind web traffic? I asked Warren a couple of questions about Peter's posts and here is the dialog (printed with permission): How much of … [Read more...]

Dutch Gays Protest Church Communion Refusal

Catholic Church refuses communion to people who openly identify as gay: Pink wafers and wigs were the fashion Sunday as hundreds of Dutch activists in the city of 's-Hertogenbosch walked out of mass in protest of the Catholic Church policy of denying communion to gay people. According to the BBC, the dispute began last month when a priest in the nearby town of Reusel refused communion to an openly gay man who happened to be chosen prince for carnival celebrations. ... via Dutch Gays Protest Church Communion Refusal | News | Advocate.com. On Singleness, The Day After Valentines Day

love-1

I used to hate Valentines Day during the first few years of my post-gay journey. I used to joke about going Cupid Hunting.  The anger present back then is long gone but I still like making fun of February 14th being "Open Cupid Hunting Season." A couple of years ago I had funny little tweets of hunting him down throughout the day. As sappy as this might sound, it is a day I to try to take some time and consider "The Lover of my Soul." His love is meant, and more than sufficient, to sustain those of us who are not married. And that means all of us at some point in lives are meant … [Read more...]

Unapologetic About Prayer

prayer

Exodus is a Christian faith based organization.  We do believe in a Living God who has His own opinions and will for our lives.  We do believe that being in communication with Him is essential.  It is essential to not only find and experience freedom in one area of life ... our Communion with God is essential for all aspects of life.  Engaging in dialog with a living God is why we call him Lord, Savior and Abba (our Father.) Here is our doctrinal statement (emphasis mine for the purpose of this post): Doctrinal Statement We believe the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament are the … [Read more...]

The Lord is Near and Cares

1yrpsalms

I have been lined up with meeting after meeting today that won't end until later tonight.  I was planning on just waiting to post again until tomorrow but this devotional from last week came to mind and I hope it brings you encouragement. The One Year Book of Psalms by Randy Petersen for January 12th focused on this passage of scripture: Psalm 8:1-4 1 O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens. 2 Out of the mouth of babies and infants, you have established strength because of your foes, to still the enemy and the … [Read more...]
