Of Life and The Yellow Lights

yellow light

I really dislike approaching yellow lights.  I am not a driven Type-A personality but I just don't really care for in town driving ... and not getting my way ... ummm... When it comes to yellow lights, do I hurry through and possibly get a ticket or run over that confused looking squirrel? It never gets cold here so when it does repeatedly, the wildlife and native Floridians don't quite know what to do. Do I hurry through or do I just stop on a dime and scare the guy in the Lexus behind me talking on his phone way to close to my bumper? If the light is green I can just keep on … [Read more...]

rayboltz

Regular readers of this blog may remember my friend Nathan who has guest blogged here before concerning Jennifer Knapp and about his "Divine Appointments" at the Exodus Freedom Conference. At this rate I just need to create a login for you Nathan :) Today Nathan writes an eloquent response to Ray Boltz' new song "God Knows I Tried."  Here's Nathan: A “Normal Gay Life” I’m adding Ray Boltz to the list of people I’d love to meet at Starbuck’s for a chat.  Most readers of this  blog will remember Ray as the Dove Award-winning gospel singer who revealed his homosexuality two … [Read more...]

Gayle Haggard Releases Memoir titled “Why I Stayed” – Interview with Renee Dallas

gayle on oprah

Gayle Haggard has been through a proverbial trial by fire for the past few years. I have been impressed with the grace, wisdom and humble boldness she obviously abides in.  You can tell the Lord is her comfort and shield. Today Gayle is releasing her memoir concerning her husband's (Megachurch and National Leader, Ted Haggard) sexual fall and resulting highly publicized aftermath titled Why I Stayed: The Choices I Made in My Darkest Hour. She will appear on The Oprah Show later today to discuss the book. For a response, we turned to trusted leader (of WifeBoat blog and online support) … [Read more...]

group

My friend Frank sent me a couple of messages that I have combined and edited below (quoted with permission): Randy, how do you wake up every morning, and go to work knowing that as much as you fight for truth, you are hated beyond understanding? that every word you speak will be twisted and you will be made a laughing stock? This Rachel Maddow thing (among others) has me down... truth is not acceptable anymore. no one cares. ... I feel like I've talked and talked till im blue in the face yet no one listens... how do you do it? You have fought longer and harder than I and have been … [Read more...]

Is Truth Really Plural? Postmodernism in Full Flower

Mohler Postmodern

Albert Mohler has an excellent blog post titled Is Truth Really Plural? Postmodernism in Full Flower. The main point of the post is a book review of John R. Franke's (a "major figure" of the emergent movement) Manifold Witness - The Plurality of Truth.  Here is the introduction: The question of truth stands at the very center of the postmodern challenge. As with any major shift in human thinking, postmodernism comes packaged with both positive and negative elements. Positively, the general worldview of postmodernism reminds us that we are deeply embedded in cultural and linguistic systems … [Read more...]

Transparency In The Midst of Questions & Persecution

Who are you ...

This first appeared on my old blog Everyday Thoughts Collected.  I have done some slight editing and updated for here. *** A supporter of Exodus asks ... I want to be transparent, but I find myself having to battle some false and serious allegations. This causes me to have to end up in defensive mode but unable to prove innocence. How do you handle false damaging attacks? There is a lot that could be said with regard to this but what I always come back to is the example Christ set during his trial which eventually led Him to be tortured and crucified. In that poignant moment you see … [Read more...]
