Follow Up Interview with Bradlee Dean

bradlee

Last week I posted about Bradlee Dean's controversial radio program where it seemed he was praising Muslim countries for how they handled the issue of homosexuality. He called me first thing the very next day. He shared his heart and agreed to do a follow up interview via email.  I promised him that I would publish his answers unedited. There were a total of five rounds of questions and an opportunity to share whatever else he wanted to share.  To date he has sent me responses to the first four rounds of questions and I will update this post with the final round of questions and his … [Read more...]

gloA

Here are three updates, from Puerto Rico, Malawi and Brazil, that landed in my inbox yesterday and today. Suspect in gay Puerto Rican teenager’s murder pleads guilty (link goes to gay media outlet): The man prosecutors contend brutally murdered a gay Puerto Rican teenager late last year has pleaded guilty. Juan José Martínez Matos, who had been scheduled to go on trial for Jorge Steven López Mercado’s death on Monday, May 17, confessed to the crime during a hearing in Caguas on Wednesday, May 12. Martínez told the court he understood the consequences of his actions, and … [Read more...]

Charges Against Street Preacher for “Hate Speech” Dropped

McAlpine

We previously blogged about the Preacher Arrested in England for Saying Homosexuality is a sin. After being being held in prison for seven hours and dealing with a 26 day needless battle the charges have been dropped. A Christian street preacher arrested and hauled before the courts for saying homosexuality was sinful has had the charge against him dropped. Dale Mcalpine, 42, was held in a cell for seven hours before being charged with a public order offence for telling a gay police community support officer that he believed homosexuals were going against the word of God. But yesterday … [Read more...]

Preacher Arrested in England for Saying Homosexuality is A Sin

nofreespeech

From AlbertMohler.com: We have seen this coming for some time now. The public space has been closing, especially when it comes to Christian speech — and especially when that speech is about homosexuality. Now, a Christian preacher has been arrested in Britain for the crime of saying in public that homosexuality is a sin. This arrest is more than a news event — it is a signal of things to come and an announcement of a new public reality. Even if all charges are dropped against this preacher, the signal is sent and the message is clear. The act of Christian preaching is now a potential … [Read more...]

Click Image to Read Study: Bullies Home in On Gays

From Study: Bullies home in on gays: A groundbreaking new Harvard study has found that gay people are far more likely to be tormented as youngsters, often leading to years of post-traumatic stress disorder. Researchers at Harvard School of Public Health and Children’s Hospital found that gays, bisexuals and heterosexuals who have had a same-sex partner are 1 to two times as likely to experience violence, especially in childhood, and have double the risk of experiencing PTSD as a result. “It’s really appalling,” said lead author Andrea Roberts, a postdoctoral fellow in … [Read more...]

Karl Lagerfeld’s Discusses Gay Public Policy, AIDS History & Porn

Self-portrait by Karl Lagerfeld

No commentary here, I will just let Lagerfeld speak for himself (bolded text is the Vice Magazine reporter, answers of course are Lagerfeld): You are against the idea of gay marriage. I totally agree with you on that. Yes, I’m against it for a very simple reason: In the 60s they all said we had the right to the difference. And now, suddenly, they want a bourgeois life. It’s normalizing. For me it’s difficult to imagine—one of the papas at work and the other at home with the baby. How would that be for the baby? I don’t know. I see more lesbians married with babies than I … [Read more...]

Suspect in Puerto Rican Teen’s Murder Competent to Stand Trial

Chris recently blogged about a Puerto Rican teen that was murdered.  I ran across the below quoted article by a gay media outlet EDGE Boston (contains offensive material). I can't seem to find it being reported anywhere else.  Google News (at the time of this post) only shows one other blog with this information and they are referring to the same article.  All that to say that there isn't a whole lot of reporting going on with this tragedy but it is an important update on the situation. Suspect in gay Puerto Rican teenager’s murder found competent to stand trial by Michael K. … [Read more...]

Rachel Maddow vs. Richard Cohen – Interview Review & Missing the Point About Uganda

rachel maddow

This post is a long one in that I am posting the video of Rachel Maddow's interview with Richard Cohen, of the International Healing Foundation, last night.  After the video I am going to share a review of the actual interview and then move into how I believe she, and some other militant gay activists, are missing the point with regard to Uganda's anti-homosexuality bill.  Here is the video: Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy The interview started off strong and polite. Richard did a pretty good job of being assertive and getting out there to … [Read more...]

Canadian Decision Protects Freedom of Speech For Religious Views

Freespeech

From The Canadian Press: EDMONTON - A Court of Queen's Bench judge has ruled an anti-gay letter written by a former Alberta pastor in 2002 was not a hate crime and is allowed under freedom of speech. Justice E.C. Wilson overturned a 2008 ruling by the Alberta Human Rights Commission that the letter by Stephen Boissoin that was published in the Red Deer Advocate broke provincial law. At the time, the commission said it may even have played a role in the beating of a gay teenager two weeks after it was published. The commission had ordered Boissoin to refrain from making disparaging … [Read more...]

Puerto Rican Youth Did Not Deserve Death

hatecrimevictim

A tragic story has come out of Puerto Rico reporting a gay youth was brutally murdered.  Jorge Steven Lopez was found over the weekend – decapitated, burned, and dismembered.  Many people are reporting that this was a crime simply enacted because Lopez was gay.  But, the suspect tells a different story.  According to the killer, Lopez allegedly told him to have anal sex with him and this provoked rage in the killer which ultimately resulted in Steven’s death.  Regardless of whether the killer is telling the truth or not, that excuse in no way justifies brutal murder. This is a very … [Read more...]
