The following was submitted to USA Today as a Letter to the Editor last week in response to Kirsten Powers article "Hypocrisy shrouds the gay marriage debate."  The letter has not been published in their paper as of yet. --- Inaccuracy Shrouds Kirsten Power’s Article As the Director of “Day of Truth 2010”, I am disappointed with the inaccurate perspective of Kirsten Power’s article. Voicing disapproval of homosexuality was not the focus of this event but rather exercising the right to present an alternative message and educating individuals about their choices. For these … [Read more...]

Exodus International Releases Control of Day of Truth Back to friend Alliance Defense Fund

Day-of-Truth

Exodus International Releases Control of Day of Truth Back to friend Alliance Defense Fund After 4 years of supporting the Day of Truth initiative and 1 year of spearheading the effort, Exodus International is returning the event to the Alliance Defense Fund.  ADF will likely find another group to run the event or end it altogether.  Created in 2005 by the Alliance Defense Fund as a response to the Gay, Lesbian, Straight Education Network's (GLSEN) annual Day of Silence, Day of Truth was an effort aimed at encouraging conservatively-minded teenagers to respectfully engage fellow students … [Read more...]

Step Up, Speak Out Against Bullying – The Tragic Case of Tyler Clementi

tyler

Everyone I have talked to that has heard about the recent rash of young people killing themselves as a result of bullying are deeply moved and heartbroken.  Considering the cases lately that are specific bullying due to a young person being perceived as or identifying as gay, many of us can personally relate to having had experienced/or are experiencing that in our lives. Truly heart breaking. I've been struggling with trying to find the words to capture the horror and deep sadness of the situation regarding Tyler Clementi but I found this amazingly powerful article by Todd Starnes. … [Read more...]

Masturbation: Is it Sin?

78814753a

*Posted originally at Exodus Youth. About seven years ago I attended my first Exodus conference.  As I was looking at the multitude of workshops offered during the week I came across one entitled "Something, something...MASTURBATION".  I can't remember the whole title, because I just saw that "m" word.  I knew I had to go to that one.  But of course when the time came to go I was filled with so much trepidation and shame.  Would I be the only one in the workshop?  I got up enough courage to go, and to my amazement, the room was so full, there was barely any standing room.  It … [Read more...]

An Encouraging Flashback – Bob Davies In Christianity Today

bob

I was digging around the Christianity Today website and found the article Ex-gay Sheds The Mocking Quote Marks which is an article featuring former Exodus President Bob Davies. Here are some excerpts (Published on 1/7/2002) : ... After 22 years, I've been aware for a while that I was ready for a change. I loved it, and this has been the most exciting, fulfilling time in my life. But as I prayed about it, I got an impression or a message from the Lord, and it was a message of two words: "Finish well." I thought, Okay, what does that mean? Am I going to be dying of cancer in the next couple … [Read more...]

Thank you Karen! *** The Love Won Out (LWO) conference at Metro Church of God in Birmingham had just under 600 attendees from 24 states including California, Colorado, New York, Pennsylvania and Washington.  There were almost 60 kids in the youth/student track, which is our largest group ever.  (That’s 10 percent of our audience!)  Jeff Buchanan said the youth track went very well, and we had positive comments from the students about it.  A good number of attendees (several dozen??) came forward for prayer … [Read more...]

Why Would Anyone Want to Change? by Frank Carrasco

wondering woman

Originally posted on Exodus Youth (emphasis by Frank.) *** Why Would Anyone Want to Change? by Frank Carrasco With so much misinformation in the media today about homosexuality, it’s no wonder that those seeking to leave homosexuality are faced with so much misunderstanding. A popular theory in pop culture today seems to be that a person with same gender attractions would naturally accept and live happily with their sexuality was it not for bigoted, narrow-minded homophobes who constantly make life impossible for gay men and women. That if only society would cease being so … [Read more...]

Greenbelt Organizers Give Gene Robinson Podium and Reject Post-gay Testimony

Greenbelt

From Anglican Mainstream: Phelim McIntyre responds to BBC News item ‘Traditional Anglicans have criticised the UK’s major Christian arts festival for inviting a gay American Bishop to speak.’ The Revd Colin Coward is being economical with the truth. He states that ‘there’s a lot of evidence that trying to make somebody ex-gay doesn’t work’. I speak as an ex-gay who has counselled others who have left the homosexual lifestyle. There are over 40 studies which show that therapy can help people, and the only evidence for harm caused by such therapy are testimonies which have … [Read more...]
