(emphasis Alan's.) --- Dear Friends, I am writing to you from Mage', Brazil - a very poor city about 40 miles from Rio de Janeiro. I was invited to be the keynote speaker at an annual institute held at Central Baptist Church. The pastor's wife originally learned about Exodus and me when she saw a pastor on television promoting God's Grace and the Homosexual Next Door, … [Read more...]

True Repentance Always Comes With Provision To Live It Out – Nathan Writes In

An Actual Boulder IN A Living Room

A friend of mine, who I truly admire, emailed me the following to amplify my last post.  I love the Body of Christ. Nathan does an excellent job of explaining how repentance should not be "orphaned" from The Gospel. Without further ado ... here's Nathan: I just read your latest Jennifer Knapp blog (and Trevin’s too). I noticed in both that repentance was mentioned—and rightly so. But I think that sometimes we in the Christian world send out the repentance message of the gospel almost as an orphan. Repentance, it seems to me, is too often presented in a way that is only a half-truth … [Read more...]

Media Round-Up from Love Won Out San Diego

Terri Brown and Volunteer Staff the Information Booth

Love Won Out, San Diego, California- Exodus International hosted its first Love Won Out conference since assuming leadership of the event from Focus on the Family. Several media outlets covered the conference and while we were protested at this event, consider this story from a young man who protested a Love Won Out conference in San Diego a few years ago: "At a conference in Pasadena, a volunteer approached one of our staff and shared how Love Won Out changed his life. Several years prior, at a LWO conference in San Diego, this young man was participating in the protest outside the … [Read more...]

Dispelling the myths about OneByOne and Exodus International

Originally posted on Presbyweb's (also ChurchandWorld.com) Viewpoint on February 17, 2010: Dispelling the myths about OneByOne and Exodus International By Kristin J. Tremba In January of this year, Presbyterian USA pastor, Rev. Ray Bagnuolo, wrote an article called "Ex-Gay. Ex-Loving". In his article, he made some inaccurate statements about the ministry of OneByOne and other "ex-gay" misnitries, which stand to be corrected. First, OneByOne has merged with Exodus International, the nation's largest Christian referral ministry for those who struggle with unwanted same-sex … [Read more...]

Joan Or John? What Would You Say to a Transgendered Person Who Comes to Christ?

Russell Moore sounds like a very provocative seminary professor!  I will quote the setup and question he posed to his Christian Ethics class at Southern Seminary.  I will also link to his five part response. I am still considering his response and posting this to simply stir up thought. Mr. Moore writes: Every year at the conclusion of Christian ethics class here at Southern Seminary, I give my students a final ethical situation to answer for their final examination. They are graded not on their conclusion, but on how they arrived there. The question below is this year’s dilemma. … [Read more...]

After Thoughts, Before Christmas

thepassion

Well, this caused a stir. :) Here are a few after-thoughts on the whole situation. First, let me say that I truly respect Mat Staver and the Liberty Counsel. I have had many good conversations with Mr. Staver as well as those that work with him over the years. Staver has always shown respect and kindness to Exodus and it bothers me that his organization has been indirectly affected by this. Second, it is also true that I have had great discussions with both Peter LaBarbera and Matt Barber as well. I have challenged and been challenged by them. That said, I obviously won't tolerate … [Read more...]
