tyler

Everyone I have talked to that has heard about the recent rash of young people killing themselves as a result of bullying are deeply moved and heartbroken.  Considering the cases lately that are specific bullying due to a young person being perceived as or identifying as gay, many of us can personally relate to having had experienced/or are experiencing that in our lives. Truly heart breaking. I've been struggling with trying to find the words to capture the horror and deep sadness of the situation regarding Tyler Clementi but I found this amazingly powerful article by Todd Starnes. … [Read more...]

In college I hung around lesbians and developed lesbian friendships. Finally one asked me, “If you aren’t homosexual, why do you hang out with lesbians?” It was like she held a mirror up to my face and said, “Who are you, and why are you here?” In my … [Read more...]

Lean Summer, Generous God

partner

In June Exodus International hosted our 35th Freedom Conference in Irvine, CA and the 59th Love Won Out event. More than 1,100 ministry leaders, parents, pastors, and individuals seeking freedom in Jesus Christ came together for an amazing time of worship, teaching, and fellowship. As I look back, it wasn’t any one thing that stood out that made this conference spectacular. Instead, it was the fact that, all around, people were beaming with joy, hope, and the understanding that God is good! I could see it in the faces of those waiting in the lunch line, in the casual conversations that … [Read more...]

Are You Happier Now Than When You Were Gay?

You Just Never Know What Could Happen Now Do You?

One of my young(er) friends on Facebook sent me a message that I have been getting a lot lately.  Now that I have passed the 40 year old mark by two years the youngin's ask me "lonely old man" questions a lot.  They don't say it like that and I am being humorous in phrasing it that way but it's true, I am getting older and have been celibate for 18 years this coming July 23rd. So they want to know if you can be happy, older and not pursuing or in a gay relationship.  Wade (not his real name) writes in part: Are you happy? I know your probably thinking 'weirdo', but I'm not. Basically … [Read more...]

First Hand Report From The NEA Ex-gay Educator’s Caucus

Melinda has become one of my favorite facebook friends.  She's always got an encouraging word.  She recently went to the NEA Convention and she had a remarkable experience.  I asked if she would like to write a guest blog post about her experience and she graciously agreed.  Here's Melinda in her own words (emphasis mine): My experience manning the NEA Ex-gay Educator’s Caucus booth at the National Education Association (NEA) convention in New Orleans recently could be compared to being in a dunking booth or being fed to the lions. The Caucus was raising awareness that “ex-gays” do, … [Read more...]

Of Elton And Rush – We Don’t Have to Care But We Might Choose To Do So Anyway

EJRL Poll

I am not exaggerating, when I heard that some of the gay or pro-gay community are furious with Elton John for performing at Rush Limbaugh's wedding, I was shocked.  I thought they would be excited that the highest profile conservative in America would invite one of the world's highest profile gay men to sing at his wedding. The disparity of what I would expect between their reaction led me, on a whim, to conduct a poll on my personal blog.  I put it there and not here because I wasn't sure where and if I was even going to blog about this.  As I got public and private feedback, plus a … [Read more...]
