To receive this letter along with the full newsletter online via email or offline through the postal service please sign up here. --- Dear Friends, How many of you have a resolution for the New Year?  Without going crazy, I usually try to pinpoint one or two areas where I hope to make improvements each year.  This year I have decided to work on keeping life simple.  You may remember that our mission at Exodus for 2011 is Simplify, Amplify, Intensify.  I began sensing the Lord's encouragement in … [Read more...]

Let World AIDS Day Inspire and Inform

Photo Credit: The Guardian (click image to visit)

Today is world AIDS day. It is a day set aside to raise awareness of this terrible pandemic. It isn't simply a day where we remember the deadly toll AIDS has had on our generation.  It is also a day to highlight resources, ministries and efforts to prevent and find a cure. Regardless of whether you identify as one of the letters in GLBTQI, as an "ex-gay" or as a Christian on a post-gay journey, we all have known too many people who have died of AIDS and/or currently have loved ones and friends living with HIV/AIDS. I picked the picture for this post from the Guardian because it speaks … [Read more...]

Happy 1st Blog/Facebook Birthday Exodus!

firstbirthday

It's hard to believe we have had this blog, and complementary Facebook page, for a full year as of today! I am very glad to see this blog succeed. We had one serious attempt to have a ministry blog in the past that just didn't quite work.  So with lessons learned and the advent of social networking ... this blog took off right out of the gate! While I don't know that our blog will *ever* be a top dog blog like Instapundit (who knows really? :) ) we don't do this for "the numbers."  Regardless, I am a stats-a-holic so here are some statistical tidbits that those who do read this blog might … [Read more...]

Media Round-Up from Love Won Out San Diego

Terri Brown and Volunteer Staff the Information Booth

Love Won Out, San Diego, California- Exodus International hosted its first Love Won Out conference since assuming leadership of the event from Focus on the Family. Several media outlets covered the conference and while we were protested at this event, consider this story from a young man who protested a Love Won Out conference in San Diego a few years ago: "At a conference in Pasadena, a volunteer approached one of our staff and shared how Love Won Out changed his life. Several years prior, at a LWO conference in San Diego, this young man was participating in the protest outside the … [Read more...]

Prayer Request for Love Won Out San Diego

Conference organizers amaze me.  All the details, logistics, care, hard work, preparation, crunch time, running the event itself... astounding.  How blessed are we that God has created wonderful souls who can do this type of ministry?  My respect for David Fountain, Leslie Chambers and Karen Eaglin is already deep but to watch them in action is a beautiful thing. This Saturday is our Love Won Out (LWO) event in San Diego so it is crunch time in "pulling it all together."  During our daily morning prayer time we spent extra time lifting up every aspect of Love Won Out to the Lord.  We … [Read more...]

On Singleness, The Day After Valentines Day

love-1

I used to hate Valentines Day during the first few years of my post-gay journey. I used to joke about going Cupid Hunting.  The anger present back then is long gone but I still like making fun of February 14th being "Open Cupid Hunting Season." A couple of years ago I had funny little tweets of hunting him down throughout the day. As sappy as this might sound, it is a day I to try to take some time and consider "The Lover of my Soul." His love is meant, and more than sufficient, to sustain those of us who are not married. And that means all of us at some point in lives are meant … [Read more...]

Blog Run-down for January 22, 2010

Hello friends! I have already done several of these "run-downs" for the facebook folks who joined our page and thought it would be good to post here too. Here is a rundown of last weeks posts. If you like a particular post and would like to pass it on to your Facebook profile/message a friend or Twitter, there is a button at the end of each post for facebook and a nifty little blog bar at the bottom of the page to share with other social networks including Twitter. Just click on the appropriate button/link and it is very easy and intuitive to share these posts with your online social … [Read more...]

Year End Top Ten Posts for 2009

I started working for Exodus in 2002.  We started a couple of different blogs since then but never really found our stride.  We decided to give it a go again on August 6 of this year and ... well... we have definitely hit our stride.  We have gotten nothing but positive feedback and encouragement. Other blogs that I follow will do various top ten lists based on their stats for the year.  While we have only been around for 4 months I thought it would be interesting to do some some stat driven interesting tidbits to highlight various posts from this year. … [Read more...]
