Let World AIDS Day Inspire and Inform

Photo Credit: The Guardian (click image to visit)

Today is world AIDS day. It is a day set aside to raise awareness of this terrible pandemic. It isn't simply a day where we remember the deadly toll AIDS has had on our generation.  It is also a day to highlight resources, ministries and efforts to prevent and find a cure. Regardless of whether you identify as one of the letters in GLBTQI, as an "ex-gay" or as a Christian on a post-gay journey, we all have known too many people who have died of AIDS and/or currently have loved ones and friends living with HIV/AIDS. I picked the picture for this post from the Guardian because it speaks … [Read more...]

“I Am The Vine and My Father is The Gardener” – David Fountain’s Testimony

This testimony appears in both our offline and online newsletters.  To receive testimonies like this along with the full newsletter online via email or offline through the postal service please sign up here. — I love this description of God as “The Gardener.” As someone who made a lifelong decision to embrace the process of change over 13 years ago, I can certainly relate to how God chooses to reveal Himself by this title.  Night after night, I would beg God for freedom from my struggle with same-sex attractions.  I knew that my feelings and attractions were outside of God’s … [Read more...]

This testimony appears in both our offline and online newsletters.  To receive testimonies like this along with the full newsletter online via email or offline through the postal service please sign up here. --- I am a wife of a man with undesired same-sex attraction struggles. Together we have attended two Exodus conferences. Through the ministry of Exodus, God showed me that He truly cares about human brokenness. He loves homosexual men and women. He also loves my husband and desires to free him from his past and present pain, fears, and shame. The Exodus Freedom conference … [Read more...]

Some Thoughts On Church/Denominational Conflict

pastorhands

This post was inspired by Matt Kaufman over at the Boundless Line.  He wrote, in response to the ELCA decision, a good question (emphasis mine): ... When should you leave a church on principle -- not for personal reasons (which we've talked about elsewhere on this blog), but for reasons of its doctrines or practices? And a follow-up question: Have you ever had to wrestle with this decision? That is definitely a tough question with plenty of potential variables.  In the 18 years I have been a Christian I haven't ever left a church on "principle" (when I have it has been for personal … [Read more...]

Charges Against Street Preacher for “Hate Speech” Dropped

McAlpine

We previously blogged about the Preacher Arrested in England for Saying Homosexuality is a sin. After being being held in prison for seven hours and dealing with a 26 day needless battle the charges have been dropped. A Christian street preacher arrested and hauled before the courts for saying homosexuality was sinful has had the charge against him dropped. Dale Mcalpine, 42, was held in a cell for seven hours before being charged with a public order offence for telling a gay police community support officer that he believed homosexuals were going against the word of God. But yesterday … [Read more...]

God’s Grace for George Rekers and Jo-Vanni Roman

Grace

It is being reported widely throughout the media that Dr. George Rekers, husband, father, NARTH Board Member, scholar, theologian and Baptist minister (to name just a few of the highlights), confirmed that he hired a 20 year-old man to accompany him on a 10-day European mission trip and extended vacation. As it turns out, that young man happens to be a prostitute. And while there has been no allegation of sexual misconduct, Dr. Rekers actions, at best, lacked an enormous amount of discernment. At worst, he is guilty of leading a double life. Despite the familiar human desire to throw the … [Read more...]

AIDS Organization “Muzzling” Christians – Why? What To Do?

One of my Facebook friends sent me this message: Hi, Randy. Last week I began orientation for (edited name of an organization out for confidentiality.) It is an interfaith organization that mininsters to people living with HIV/AIDS. I had continuing education this Monday through Wednesday. The training materials are awesome and the presenters of the different topics are committed to the cause. But volunteers are forbidden to share their faith or challenge their current behavior, which may be sinful and risky. They striclty forbid what they call proselytizing and will expell a volunteer … [Read more...]

Worship Leader Danen Kane Experiences God’s Grace at Exodus

Danen Kane

Serving over the Exodus Events Department, one of my greatest joys is hearing feedback from conference guests who experience an Exodus conference for the first time. Recently, the North Central Regional ministries held their annual conference in Green Lake, WI. They invited musical artist, Danen Kane to join them as their worship leader at this year’s conference. Danen shares his experience at this Exodus Event on his blog …. Last weekend I lead worship for a conference in Wisconsin. The Conference was for a ministry called Exodus International. I really didn’t know a ton about … [Read more...]

Free Speech and Common Sense Wins In England

Randy Christine London

Lord Waddington has been championing free speech in England for people who do not hold the politically correct pro-gay ideological view and want to speak into the public discourse concerning the topic of homosexuality. Some were saying that there is a tolerance for free speech but many who do not hold a pro-gay view were being harassed and intimidated into silence. Last Monday Lord Waddington wrote the Times Online: Some might say it (his free speech ammendment) is so moderate that it merely states the obvious and is therefore unnecessary. But those who say that are closing their eyes to … [Read more...]
